Job Title Material Planner
Section Turnaround Division Operations
Department Maintenance Reports to Sr. Engineer (Turnaround)
Roles at this level will have prime responsibility to Coordinate all required Materials for the Turnaround.
Assist the maintenance with tracking the flow of materials and supplies from store/workshop to the site.
The condition of supplies, i.e. quality and quantity, must be checked upon delivery to ensure the goods
conform to the ordered specifications. Carry out improvement studies of Materials services.
Coordinate with Trade Field engineers and planners in scheduling and material logistic requirement.
Coordinate with requisitioner to ensure desired Materials objectives, priorities, and schedules are met
and communicated to management. Preparation of budgets, technical specifications for materials and
services. Coordinate the interface between Materials functions such as procurement, transportation, and
Material Management Section to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective support to the customer.
Must be able to multi-task and use a computer to ensure important data is captured, organized,
disseminated, and stored in a proper format.

Material Coordination, Problem Analysis & Troubleshooting
Analyze, determine root-cause and recommend remedial solutions for problems referred from
maintenance teams to ensure proper troubleshooting of reported problems on Material resources.
Refer problems/mitigations to Superiors and concern parties
Coordinate Material coordination meetings and ensure necessary communications to all stake
holders to initiate timely actions.
Ensure the ordering of Materials are done as per the ordering process in time.
Develop periodical report to foresee required actions to ensure timely availability of Materials at
site.
Review, analyze and report Materials resources used during Turnaround. To develop alternate
actions to minimize the impact on material delivery, avoid air freight and emergent orders.
Coordinate with MMS & Procurement section to ensure all turnaround related materials are ordered
periodically.
Support Turnaround Planning and Execution with related to materials, technical evaluation, and
effective communication among all stake holders.
Prepare periodical reports on Materials to ensure overall status of availability for the respective
Turnarounds to communicate to Management through coordination meetings.
Coordinate with external services for necessary approvals with related to Turnaround Materials.
Budgets and Cost Control
Collate data for Materials and services provided with the expenditure to enable monitoring for
Turnarounds.
Review inputs for development of group operating budget ensuring adequate provision has been
made for the funding of all anticipated activities. Monitor performance against approved levels to
ensure effective cost control.
Review and ensure high value items, long-lead items and short lead items are ordered and included
in Budget to have more realistic estimation.
Procedures and Process Establishment
Develop, gain approval for, and implement internal procedures and processes in order to insure
effective and efficient workflows.
Development of plans for Materials activities
Prepare Materials procedures.
Project Support
Support in the planning and execution of Materials activities for Turnaround
Be a member or lead for improvement of Materials related concerns.
Provide necessary technical analysis.
Technological Trends
Keep informed of technological developments in your area of responsibility to identify and
recommend opportunities for increased effectiveness and/or cost reduction.
Spares and Tendering
Ensure the availability of spares parts and other materials related to Turnaround maintenance.
Upkeep of equipment, facilities, to ensure cost effectiveness.
Inspection of incoming spare related to Materials
Create and manage spare specification and new item code in ERP
Ensure bill of materials are included and updated periodically.
Turnaround work
Prepare tender documentation for Turnaround work for any material requirements.
Coordinate and carry out technical and commercial evaluation.
Support Turnaround process with respect to urgent and unforeseen material requirement.
Contact with Material logistic service provider / Equipment/tool Manufacturers
Maintain contact with Material logistic service provider / equipment / tool manufacturers to keep
informed of technological developments in the area of responsibility in order to identify and recommend
opportunities for increased effectiveness and/or cost reduction.
Procurement & Bid Evaluation
Provide specifications for the procurement of non-standard materials/emergency orders. Conduct
technical and commercial evaluation of bids and recommend preferred suppliers to ensure high-quality,
cost-effective purchases.
Work Progress Reporting
Provide superiors with work status reports to enable effective monitoring of overall progress against
agreed plans with respect to Materials availability.
