QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

Postgraduate qualification or certifications in ESG, GRI Reporting, or ISO 14001 (advantageous).

NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or equivalent is a plus.

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in environmental compliance, sustainability program implementation, or ESG reporting.

Proven experience working with ISO 14001 standards and Qatar regulatory requirements.

Experience in corporate waste management, energy, or sustainability reporting tools is preferred.

Superb computer competence, including database management

Knowledge of Sustainability terminology, methods, and tools

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Computer proficiency level required (e.g. Advanced knowledge in MS Office suite)

Driving skills (Valid Qatar light vehicle driving license required)

 

JOB DESCRIPTION :

.      Core description: This role has been created to support the organisation’s commitment to environmental protection, sustainability, and responsible resource management, ensuring that all ABA Business Units embed sustainable practices and environmental stewardship into their operations and decision-making processes.

• The role would report to the QHSE Group Manager on matters related to environmental management, sustainability initiatives, climate and resource efficiency, and regulatory compliance across ABA business facilities.
• The individual would work in close coordination with the QHSE, facilities, operations, and sustainability focal points within various ABA Business Units to identify environmental risks, improvement opportunities, and sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with the ABA Corporate Management System and ESG objectives.
• The individual would be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental and sustainability requirements, supporting Business Units in achieving and maintaining certifications such as ISO 14001, and contributing to other relevant standards and frameworks, including ISO 50001, ISO 26000, (where applicable), and corporate sustainability reporting requirements.
• The role would support Business Units in areas such as environmental impact assessment, waste management, energy and water efficiency, carbon footprint reduction, legal compliance, environmental audits, and sustainability performance monitoring, ensuring continual improvement and best practices.
• Liaise with the ABA Group QHSE Manager and relevant specialists to ensure environmental and sustainability initiatives are consistently applied, monitored, and reported in line with corporate policies, regulatory obligations, Qatar National Vision 2030, and ABA sustainability commitments.

2. Scope on impact: The individuals would be responsible for the following deliverables:

• Ensuring the effective implementation of environmental management and sustainability practices across all ABA Business Units, in line with corporate policies, legal requirements, and recognized international standards.
• Identifying, assessing, and analyzing environmental aspects, impacts, and sustainability risks related to business operations, facilities, and activities, and ensuring systematic methodologies are established to minimize adverse impacts on the environment and optimize resource efficiency.
• Supporting the development and implementation of environmental risk mitigation measures, including waste management, energy and water conservation, pollution prevention, and climate-related initiatives.
• Conducting environmental inspections, internal audits, compliance assessments, and performance reviews, and preparing reports on environmental and sustainability performance of the divisions for management review and continual improvement.

3. Result: Ensure the achievement, continual compliance, and ongoing maintenance of relevant environmental and sustainability certifications and accreditations across the organization, while supporting initiatives that reduce environmental incidents, prevent adverse impacts, and promote a strong culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability within the Group.

Accountability/Tasks

1. Environmental Compliance and Oversight

• Ensure compliance with Qatar’s environmental laws, including MME guidelines and international best practices.
• Lead environmental impact assessments and permit requirements.
• Monitor and ensure proper waste segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal through approved vendors.

1. Sustainability Strategy and Execution

• Develop and oversee the company’s sustainability roadmap in alignment with national and global frameworks.
• Collaborate with divisions to embed environmental sustainability principles across the value chain.
• Guide initiatives such as energy audits, GHG emission tracking, water efficiency, and sustainable procurement.
