Simulation Education Specialist

University of Doha for Science and Technology

Qualification & Experience:

– A Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field is required.

– A Master’s degree in Healthcare Simulation Education.

– Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or equivalent certification.

– At least 3 years of professional experience in healthcare simulation education, and simulation program management.

– Proficiency with a variety of simulation technologies and software.

– Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

– A proactive and creative thinker who is committed to continuous improvement and lifelong learning.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Program Development and Coordination:

– Partner with department heads and faculty to design, implement, and manage simulation-based learning activities tailored to the specific educational needs and outcomes of each department.

– Develop comprehensive simulation scenarios that align with curricular goals and enhance clinical competencies across various disciplines.

2. Simulation Operations and Technology Management:

– Oversee the daily operations of the simulation labs, ensuring all equipment and resources are available and functioning efficiently.

– Manage and maintain a diverse range of simulation technologies, including high, medium, and low fidelity mannequins, task trainers, and computer-based simulation programs.

3. Facilitation and Instruction:

– Lead and facilitate simulation sessions, providing both technical support and instructional guidance to students and faculty participants.

– Conduct pre-briefing and debriefing sessions that focus on reflection and learning outcomes evaluation, reinforcing critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.

4. Education and Faculty Development:

– Provide training workshops and one-on-one guidance to faculty and staff on the effective use of simulation tools and methodologies.

– Develop and deliver educational resources and materials that enhance the quality of simulation instruction.

5. Assessment and Evaluation:

– Design and implement assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of simulation activities, collecting data to inform iterative improvements.

– Provide feedback to students and faculty to facilitate continuous learning and development.

6. Research and Innovation:

– Participate in scholarly research related to simulation-based education and contribute to academic publications or presentations.

– Stay informed on the latest technological advancements and educational strategies in simulation, integrating innovative approaches into program offerings.
