Qualification & Experience:

Minimum 15-to-20 years work experience as a Reservoir Engineer in the Oil and Gas industry with demonstrated Reservoir studies/surveillance/performance optimization expertise in large oil and gas fields and oil rim development, emphasizing carbonate reservoirs. – Significant experience working on mature oil fields under waterflood. – Strong experience in transient well test interpretation, material balance modelling and performance prediction of vertical and horizontal wells. – Significant experience in numerical reservoir simulation model construction and quality control (blackoil and compositional), initialization, history matching, uncertainty evaluation and model forecasting techniques. – Significant experience in field development planning, recovery estimation, improved recovery techniques (e.g. waterflood, gas re-injection). – Strong knowledge in reservoir surveillance and monitoring techniques and related uncertainties. – Strong experience in reserves and resource evaluation, classification and booking (SPE PRMS or SEC standards). – Good knowledge and experience in reservoir fluid sampling, fluid property modelling, routine and special core analysis. – Knowledge and experience in uncertainty analysis and risk assessment/ management. – Must have strong teamwork skills. Experience working in a multicultural environment is a plus. Must be fluent in spoken and written English. – Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, less experienced staff, field staff and management. – Must have experience mentoring less experienced engineers. – BSc/M.Sc. in Engineering (preferably in Petroleum Engineering) or Applied Sciences.   Desirable – Knowledge in EOR techniques in particular miscible/immiscible gas injection and CO2 WAG development. – Desirable to working knowledge of gas condensate reservoir, gas recycling schemes, and gas field development experience. – MSc in Petroleum Engineering or Applied Sciences. Software Knowledge/Experience – Simulation – Eclipse 100/300 – Petrel RE – Fluid property modelling – PVTi, PVTSim (Nova) – Material balance – MBAL – Well test interpretation – Saphir – Reservoir surveillance – OFM – Using uncertainty software such as MEPOand Petrel Uncertainty. Desirable software: – Geo2Flow. – Petroleum Experts Suite: PVTp, GAP. – Echelon reservoir simulator. – Unix operating system. Wellbore dynamics modelling – PROSPER
Principal Accountabilities – Steward and lead black-oil and compositional model construction and update activities in the team in support of field development planning. – Steward and perform the annual reserves review and generates long term Production / injection forecasts for business planning and drilling/workover schedule. – Steward development, contribution and integration of Reservoir Engineering inputs into the short term (drill/replacement well projects, workover projects and drilling/workover operations), medium term (reservoir voidage management) and long term (field development, asset value optimization, and EOR/IOR) activities. – Recommend and approve target reservoir(s) layers and well-reservoir contacts for new/replacement vertical / deviated / horizontal drill projects into multi-layered heterogeneous reservoirs to optimize field development. – Steward and contribute to the well proposals/prognosis. Lead development and preparation of post-drill Reservoir Engineering reports including integration of interpreted Reservoir Engineering data with Geological & Petrophysical evaluations, identification of uncertainties and recommendation and approval for future monitoring and/or data acquisition plans. – Steward and contribute to preparing detailed integrated development plans for undeveloped hydrocarbon resources. – Steward and contribute in fields annual reviews and recommendations of reservoir management and monitoring procedures and activities. – Supervise the acquisition of Reservoir Engineering data and responsible for the QA/QC of Reservoir Engineering data. – Steward and provide technical assurance to outsourced reservoir studies carried out by third parties. Monitor work compliance by contractors for Reservoir Engineering data acquisition. – Steward contribution to studies and reservoir management procedures, updates and improvements including but not limited to, Annual Resources Review, Integrated Subsurface Studies, Reservoir Management, Well Prognosis and other subsurface related operations. – Steward guidance and mentorship to other team members, on-the-job coaching and development of Qatari staff, and participate and recommend to/ professional development activities, resume evaluation and technical interviews. – Identify and recommend new training and/or software/hardware technology requirements that can improve bottom-line performance and results, including software and hardware, technical knowledge, data acquisition and analysis and/or well and field development concepts and technologies.   Decision Making Authority – Within broad guidelines set by the Assistant Manager/Head, the position is accountable for his/her actions, and for the consequences of them. Work requires only occasional monitoring by Assistant Manager/Head. – Within broad guidelines set by Section Head or Assistant Manager, the position is authorized to evaluate the proposals developed by younger Reservoir Engineers for reservoir studies, field development, Reservoir Surveillance and recommends techno-economically sound decisions for implementation. – The position is authorized to recommend projects / operations entailing sustainable and maximized hydrocarbon resources and cash flow income for the company. – The position is authorized to recommend team activities, study proposals, and workload distribution, lead and coordinate team studies and steward project reporting.   Context / Special Features / Challenges – Identify and leverage the key variables in finding solutions to wide-ranging problems involving multiple disciplines. – Steward and identify subsurface uncertainties and lead development of mitigations plans and solutions through new data acquisition, additional studies or other alternatives and related risk/reward. – Due to the operational nature of the position the incumbent may be required to work for extended periods. The incumbent will need the mental rigor to deal with disruptions outside working hours and to make optimal operational decisions regardless of the nature or timing of the disruption. – Ensure that relevant environmental and safety standards are enacted for all projects and activities under his/her authority, and produce high quality “fit-for purpose” deficiency free work. Through the quality of the work, establish a high degree of trust between the different disciplines of the team.
